About Parvati.org

Parvati.org, is a Canadian not-for-profit whose first order of business is the realization of the Marine Arctic Peace Sanctuary (MAPS), a simple and effective solution to protect the key, vulnerable Arctic ecosystem that keeps our planet cool. To expedite the realization of MAPS, Parvati.org drafted the Marine Arctic Peace Sanctuary Treaty as an amendment to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). It has been translated into all official UN languages and sent to all heads of government around the world. With the signatures of 99 nations, including all those with territorial claims in the Arctic, the Marine Arctic Peace Sanctuary will come into effect.

To date all of our work is self-funded and completed by our team of volunteers spread across Canada and now the world. We have attended COP21 in Paris, COP22 in Marrakesh and recently COP23 in Bonn, meeting officials and raising awareness for MAPS. The UN community is taking notice, momentum is building, and with that comes a need to keep our websites up to date as progress is made, strategies evolve and there is great news to share.

Web Design Volunteers needed:

With momentum building we need to add to our volunteer web development team. We manage several Wordpress websites, focused on different audiences. See parvati.org, signmaps.org and parvatimagazine.com. We have a great volunteer designer keeping us on brand and providing page design and visual assets. Now need more people to help implement. Willingness to dive in is a prime criteria and deeply appreciated, and the skills we are seeking include:

  • Wordpress, html
  • CSS
  • ability to build/edit pages without using a visual composer
  • familiarity with the Beep theme and Slider Revolution make it all much easier
  • familiarity with website hosting is helpful
