About us - Who are We?

Hospital Workers’ Housing Co-operative Inc. (HWHC) is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1992 by a number of frontline healthcare workers in Toronto with the aim of providing an affordable housing option for Torontonians. HWHC is currently on a mission to make play accessible for youth, children, and adults through an initiative called Play4All.MertonProject. We strongly believe in prioritizing mental and physical health in our community and aim to prove this through Play4All.MertonProject.

Position Summary

Currently, there is one open unpaid part-time internship opportunity available within this organization as a Social Media Strategist. Please see below for information on the available position. Social Media Strategist

• 6 Month Contract (15 hrs/week)
• OR 3 Month Contract (30 hrs/week)

Hours: flexible - make your own schedule

The successful incumbent will manage and spearhead various social media tasks including but not limited to: developing social media strategies, observing current social media trends, and enjoying social media platforms! This person will report to the Committee Chair. The successful applicant must be detail-oriented, analytical, and have strong research skills. We are looking for someone who is independent and takes initiative!

Skills & Responsibilities:

• Strong knowledge of social media tools and strategies
• Knowledgeable about different social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn)
• Analyzing social media audiences and target demographics
• Creating, managing, and tracking the success of social media campaigns and strategies
• Ensuring the organization meets awareness goals
• Engaging in research to stay up to date on the latest social media trends and stay on par with like-minded organizations
• Managing and maintaining Google Ads campaigns
• Working with the Social Media team to ensure campaigns are implemented appropriately and according to plan
• Capable of providing constructive feedback
• Track SEO performance
• Attending meetings (via zoom or teleconference) and keeping minutes
• Attending relevant workshops/trainings
• Must be detailed oriented and capable of meeting project deadlines

Requirements & Qualifications

• LOVES social media, but LOVES staying up to date with social media even more!
• Excellent reading and writing skills
• Minimum grade 9 high school completed
• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Must have confidence to ask questions when feeling unsure about a task
• Must be capable of working in a team environment, and appropriately give and receive feedback
