Help children connect with nature and discover the natural wonders of the Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve in North Vancouver!

Position: Assistant Camp Counsellor Application (North Vancouver)
Organization: Evergreen
Location: North Vancouver, British Columbia

Assistant Camp Counsellors will work alongside experienced staff to lead outdoor programming for campers aged 8-12 years old. Primary tasks include activity preparation, assisting with supervision, and mentoring campers as they explore outdoors.

What You Bring:

  • Experience working with children
  • Comfortable leading a group as well as facilitating games/activities
  • Interest in nature and ecology
  • Comfortable working outside in various weather conditions (i.e., rain, heat, etc.)
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Punctual and reliable
  • Must have a Valid Police Record Check*
  • Must be 16 years old or older
  • Outdoor/environmental education experience and first aid training considered an asset

*NOTE: We will send you instructions on how to start your police check after the phone interview.

Your Commitment: Assistant Camp Counsellors must commit to at least two full weeks of camp. Camp runs from July 3rd to August 31st, with shifts from 8:30 AM-4:30 PM or 9:30 AM-5:30 PM, Monday to Friday.

Camp Location: BC Adventure Camp takes place at the Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve (2369 Lillooet Rd) in North Vancouver. You must be able to provide your own transportation to the site each day, or be able to take transit.

How We’ll Support You: There will be mandatory training from June 25th-28th. This training will include a program overview, safety protocols, and game/activity facilitation tips.

To Become an Assistant Camp Counsellor:

  2. Participate in a brief phone interview.
  3. Participate in an in-person group interview.
  4. Provide contact information for one reference or send us a letter of recommendation.
  5. Begin the police check process (instructions will be given after the phone interview).
