Position: Principal Climber/Crew Leader
Organization: Heritage Tree Care Inc.
Location: Toronto, Ontario

Heritage Tree Care Inc is a thriving, deeply experienced, and well-regarded tree service based in Toronto’s downtown west end since 2006. Throughout this time our safety record and reputation have remained exemplary. We have a great foundation of repeat and referral clients mainly in the west end but also all over the GTA and we service both commercial and residential clients.

HTC inc has immense potential for solid growth in the coming years and we are looking for top quality people to join us for the journey.

We have positions available for Junior Climbers, Principal Climbers, and Crew Leaders.

We consider ourselves a progressive and thoughtful company and pride ourselves on bringing an extra layer of creative consideration to the urban treescapes we are invited to work on. Our mission is to bring a holistic approach to the health and biomechanical challenges of each individual tree.

We are also highly productive and efficient in our daily work activities, which vary from technical removals in tight downtown locations, to precision pruning of every possible species and size. Safety is our first and foremost concern and we employ robust internal systems and protocols to ensure optimal safety on our job sites at all times.

We also have strong management systems in place utilizing the in-field software program Jobber to organize work orders, articulate job specs, delegate crew members and line up jobs weeks in advance. Also for employee timesheets and payment for optimum efficiency and minimal fuss. All of our trucks have dedicated tablets to direct each crew on their daily activities and safety protocols to ensure nothing is missed such as;

  • Pre-departure equipment checklist & maintenance schedule
  • Truck and machine safety checklist
  • Onsite risk assessment and Tailgate meeting
  • End of day check-in

Principal Climber/Crew Leader position

$30 – $40+ per hour Based on leadership and performance

YOU MUST:

  • Have at least 5 years of climbing experience
  • Be a highly skilled professional in the safe maintenance and management of trees of all sizes and species in a wide range of conditions (dead, dying, storm damaged and hazardous) and to work in all manner of environments with high-risk target zones (tiny backyards, over houses/pools, etc)
  • Be capable of performing physically demanding manual labor in a variety of weather conditions
  • Be able to show up on time with a professional appearance and a positive attitude each day
  • Be ready, willing, and able to perform any sized tree removal on a regular basis
  • Help create and maintain a positive atmosphere and productive team environment
  • Safely operate and maintain chainsaws, chippers, stump grinders, mini skid steer, and other equipment as needed
  • Conform to Ontario & ISA industry standards & Arborist best work practices
  • Be ISA/OQA Certified and possess a high level of knowledge of tree biology and biomechanics
  • Be able to carry out all aspects of aerial and ground tree care operations and be skilled in all manner of modern tree climbing and advanced rigging techniques;
  • Have the ability to study and determine the most efficient and safe way to handle each task, taking into account such variables as location, weather conditions, equipment, etc.
  • Be able to carefully and accurately follow detailed job directives, delegate to crew members and execute them with the highest standard of quality;
  • Keep activity on the worksite at a high level of productivity and safety;
  • Complete work efficiently with excellent time management and on-site problem-solving skills;
  • Manage and be accountable for all tools, equipment, and items kept in the trucks and ensure everything is returned to the yard at the end of each day. Perform maintenance of any equipment when needed;
  • Be able to conduct a pre-work risk assessment and safety tailgates on a provided tablet on every job
  • Read HTC inc company Policies & Procedures Manual and agree to uphold it
  • Be accountable for the organization of yard spaces, shipping container, and truck tool/dump boxes on a regular basis;
  • Have a 100% clean drivers license, DZ license is an asset;
  • Have a serious work ethic, high motivation, and keen ambition
  • Be unequivocally available for emergency storm response
  • Embody and practice leadership, communication, and accountability
  • Provide mentoring for Junior Climbers and Groundworkers
