Position: Senior Researcher, Public Policies, Climate Change

Équiterre is currently looking for a:

Senior Researcher, Public Policies, Climate Change

Reporting to the director of government relations, the successful candidate will be responsible to coordinate research, publications and recommendations for Équiterre on climate change, in order to influence provincial and federal policy-makers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Write and coordinate the production of research reports, briefs, and other documents supporting Équiterre positions;
  • Analyze public policies and develop response for Équiterre;
  • Conduct research and consistently monitor current issues, news and any other information that can feed Équiterre interventions;
  • Participate in the development and implementation of the communication and public relations plans of the organization;
  • Participate and represent Équiterre in meetings with various organizations working on climate change;
  • Write grant applications and report back to funders;
  • Assess the results of projects and write evaluation reports;
  • Carry out all other tasks related to your area of expertise;
  • Take part in Équiterre social events, such as the monthly employee meetings and the annual retreat.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES REQUIRED

  • Master's degree in a relevant field (economics, political science, environmental sciences, etc.);
  • 5 years of experience in writing or research;
  • 3 years of experience in project management;
  • Knowledge of Canada's energy sector, climate change policies;
  • Great editorial, analytical and synthesis skills;
  • Excellent command of written English or French, fluency in both oral English and French;
  • Basic knowledge of office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) and web applications;
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to represent Équiterre to governments, including making public presentations;
  • Great organizational capacity, initiative, autonomy and attention to details;
  • Flexibility in tasks;
  • Strong interest in Équiterre’s mission with knowledge of the organization’s priority issues.?

CONDITIONS

  • Permanent full-time position, based in Montreal or Ottawa;
  • Flexible schedule, 34 hours/week, spread over 4 or 5 days;
  • Salary in accordance with the organization’s pay scale, depending on the candidate’s training and experience;
  • 5 weeks of vacation + 2 weeks off during the holiday season;
  • Group insurance plan and group RRSP;
  • Positive working environment with a team of dedicated and hard-working employees.
