Faith & the Common Good is currently seeking a dynamic Deputy Executive Director to guide, build, and help tell the story of the organization’s raison d’etre and diverse array of programs. The successful candidate will demonstrate skills at developing, funding, evaluating, and executing programs, managing administrative operations, fostering strong community and cross sectoral partnerships and realizing the organization’s vision and strategic goals. The position will be considered as the next-in-line for the role of Executive Director.

Who We Are

Faith & the Common Good (Registered charity #82827 6121 RR0001, established in 2000) is a non-sectarian, charitable network dedicated to assist and inspire religious congregations and spiritual groups of all backgrounds to take collective action in creating more sustainable communities.

We work with local faith-based, environmental, municipal, Indigenous, and community partners across the country to host a wide variety of practical, educational and spiritual programs that encourage: faith building energy efficiency; the re-purposing of surplus places of worship; faith sector support for clean energy and active transportation; interfaith climate justice and clean water alliances; and increased support for our climate vulnerable neighbors.  Our network is composed of people of faith, hope, and spirit who, despite our differences in theology, dress and culture, share a calling to protect our ecosystem and a passion for community service.

On average each year, we work with close to 600 faith communities, from over 14 different spiritual traditions, to host almost 1,000 sustainability events and activities that reach more than 10,000 Canadians.   With more than 1 of 3 Canadians claiming an active faith affiliation, we believe that galvanizing faith groups to be neighborhood sustainability role models is crucial for a greener, healthier, more resilient Canada.

  • Provide editorial and messaging support on external written and verbal communications, ensuring they align with Faith & the Common Good’s mission, vision and values.
  • Work closely with the communications team to effectively utilize the full capacity our Nation Builder website and CRM system to manage data and help staff teams identify, attract, and engage more supporters, donors, and participants.
  • Provide managerial and strategic oversight for the organization, including assisting in staff evaluations, developing and tracking an annual budget, and monitoring our organizational strategic plan in coordination with the Board of Directors

Who You Are:

  • Believe strongly that our diverse faith and spiritual communities can be a force for good. You respect tradition, but are unafraid to act as a catalyst for change.
  • Motivated, passionate and hopeful about protecting our shared environment for future generations
  • Have at least five years professional experience in an NGO or business management role.
