We are looking for someone who is passionate about the need for environmental change through youth education while contributing to our organization’s success. Are you a well-organized team player others describe as a self- starter who solves problems with care and creativity? In this position you would be working closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors and support our program educators in BC and Alberta. As the initial point of contact for our organization, you should have excellent verbal and written communication skills to represent Elements Society in a professional manner. Your background should include fundraising with a focus towards grant writing and cultivating sponsor/donor relations, as this will allow us to offer our programs to more schools throughout Western Canada.

We’re specifically seeking a skilled and experienced individual who will:

  • Manage an existing portfolio of environmental educational programs, including the marketing, promotion, implementation, facilitation, costs, management and delivery of same

  • Explore and cultivate new partnerships, funding and program growth opportunities

  • Build the organization’s ability to scale and grow existing programs

  • Identify potential grant opportunities, complete applications and oversee the grant application process

  • Build strong relationships with current funders

  • Develop sustained partnerships and relationships with key organizations and influencers relevant to sustainability/environmental/well being education programs

  • Represent the organizations at conferences and events

  • Work collaboratively to accomplish program goals and ensure success of contracted programs

You will demonstrate:

  • Previous experience working with education programs and youth engagement

  • Solid understanding of sustainability issues, environmental education and/or equivalent

  • Passion to meaningfully engage with the school community, sponsors and mentors in sustainability-related topics

  • Communication skills to effectively engage school-related professionals, students, community partners and sponsors

  • Positive, outgoing attitude with strong interpersonal skills in English

  • Proactive approach to handle problems as these arise and work under minimal supervision

  • Collaboration skills to effectively contribute to a team-based work environment

  • Willingness to travel in BC and AB

  • Experience with fundraising and grant writing

  • Experience with a documents and records management system

  • Experience with a customer relationship management (CRM) system

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Familiarity with managing business pages/accounts for Facebook, Instagram and Twitter

  • Access to a vehicle for workshop materials preparation and program delivery

Responsibilities include:

COORDINATION & DELIVERY

  • Manage program delivery of the Destination Conservation/Catch the Wave programs, including Showcase Events designed for each school district of participating schools

  • Support the Regional Program Coordinators

  • Design, develop and revise program materials and resources in collaboration with Executive Director and Program Facilitators

  • Liaise with Elements Society Board and organize Board Meetings and AGM

  • Deliver program workshops and co-deliver professional development workshops for teachers

FUNDRAISING

  • Work with Executive Director to attract new clients and maintain positive relations with existing program participants and funders

  • Support the Executive Director in pursuing fundraising opportunities, liaising with potential donors

  • Assist with grant writing and funding applications

ADMINISTRATION & MARKETING

  • Day-to-day office operations, including answering emails, checking phone messages, picking up mail and depositing cheques

  • Inventory and organize Elements Society files and materials

  • Prepare and coordinate delivery of program materials for Regional Coordinators

  • Manage Elements Society’s social media accounts to promote the organization and its programs

You will be reporting to the Executive Director and support Regional Program Coordinators and other consultants, as well as some communication with the Society’s accountant and the Board of Directors.

Salary $45K - $51K per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits
