Work Scope

“Who Does Your Garden” has been providing garden design; fine gardening services along and unique seasonal container plantings to homes in Toronto neighbourhoods since 2005.

Crew members work with experienced horticulturists in various garden settings, providing timely, quality, sustainably focused garden maintenance. Clients rely on our expertise to provide design and installation services, eco-friendly maintenance, rehabilitative pruning, bulb and vegetable planting, and soil amending.

Attributes

We are looking for cheerful plant enthusiasts who enjoy learning and are willing to take direction, while in turn are keen to share their horticultural knowledge and design aesthetic.

Your strongest attribute would be to have an infatuation for tenderly nurturing plants to their fullest potential under various and challenging conditions.

Opportunity to advance to Lead Crew is available to conscientious, forward thinking crew.

Daily Activities

Working weekdays 8:30 to 5:00 from June to October 2018 we:

  • Plant and cultivate annuals, perennials, bulbs, shrubs and trees.
  • Assist with design, assembly and maintenance of container plantings.
  • Improve and maintain planting beds and gardens throughout the season.
  • Amend soil, assist in pruning activities.

Requirements

Fine gardening requires attention to detail and consistency of practice.

In our commitment to providing quality and consistency we a) follow standard processes around repetitive tasks and b) hire team members who appreciate and are committed to consistency.

  • Knowledge of horticultural practice gained in a work setting.
  • Good plant ID skills.
  • Some formal education in either ecology, horitculture, forestry, environmental studies, landscape architecture
  • Capable of performing physical labour (bending, lifting, digging).
  • Work smart attitude with an obsession for attending to detail
  • Prepared to tolerate various weather conditions.
  • Knowledge of navigating city neighbourhoods.

Salary: $16 to $18 hour.
