Position: GHG Analyst - Maternity Leave Cover

Would you like helping organizations understand and manage their environmental impacts? Ecometrica is presently seeking a Climate Change / Sustainability Analyst for a maternity leave cover in our Montréal office.

By bringing together sustainability, environment, risk and business insights within a suite of easy to use, visually appealing applications, our software platform allows our clients to better understand their sustainability impacts, performance and risks and opportunities, and ultimately make smarter decisions and build long-term value. Our clients are leading organisations from private, public and non-profit sectors, and we have global reach with teams in London, Boston, Edinburgh and Montreal.

Our team of analysts has been working with a wide array of clients from various industries, from S&P-listed companies to education institutions and NGOs, and has helped shape the climate accounting and reporting practice into the professional field it has become through their involvement in standard-making.

One of our analysts will be going on maternity leave in early 2019, and we are looking for an experienced analyst who shares our passion to join our Mile End team in her absence.

You will be working with a small bilingual team of very smart and friendly analysts and developers, delivering services and SaaS solutions to a wide array of clients in the USA, Canada, and the Americas.

Tasks will include:

  • Delivery of organizational, product and events greenhouse gas assessment services, including GHG calculations, emissions estimation modeling, and quality assurance review of client data.
  • Liaising with our clients and partners, including consulting sustainability assessment scoping, answering technical and project management queries, helping clients report on their sustainability performance.
  • Conducting ad-hoc research on sustainability and climate change standards, emission sources, and other topics as needed.
  • Contributing to testing and providing recommendations on new features for our online tool for corporate sustainability reporting.

Our ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience working as a consultant.
  • Have experience with the main corporate GHG and sustainability reporting standards.
  • Be a graduate in a field relevant to Ecometrica’s line or work, such as environmental sciences or statistics.
  • Be extremely attentive to detail and rigorous.
  • Possess strong research and analytical skills.
  • Love numbers and be proficient with modelling/estimating data.
  • Be able to critically appraise the relevance and accuracy of data.
  • Be a fast-learner.
  • Have outstanding multi-tasking and time management skills.
  • Possess excellent computer skills, including high proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Have excellent English communication skills (both written and spoken.)
  • Have a strong work ethic.
  • Have a confident, client-centric, friendly and professional approach.
  • Have a demonstrated strong interest in environmental sciences, climate change or sustainable development matters.

A strong command of French is an additional asset.


  • Position status: Contractual position, maternity leave cover.
  • Salary: commensurate with experience and in line with our pay scale.
  • Expected start date: January 1st, 2019.
  • Expected end date: February 17th, 2020. Possibility of extension.
