Position: Communications Manager
Organization: GreenPAC
Location: Toronto, Ontario

Starting Date: February 17, 2019

Wage and Hours: 22.5 hours/week, $25.95/hour. Year contract with opportunity for renewal.

GreenPAC is a non-partisan, non-profit organization working to elect and support environmental leaders of all major parties running for office. We work to build leadership in major political parties, and have run successful candidate endorsement campaigns in the Federal (2015, 2019), Manitoba (2016), B.C. (2017) and Ontario (2018) elections. In fall 2018 we launched Canada’s first Parliamentary Internship Program for the Environment and in 2019 we worked with community groups across the country to run over 100 non-partisan all-candidates debates on the environment. We are an ambitious, curious and creative group with a good sense of humour.

Reporting to the Executive Director and working with the Director of Fundraising, the Communications Manager will be responsible for communications activities at GreenPAC.


  • Development and implementation of an organizational communication plan including timeline;
  • Management of writing, editing, and revisions of the blog, social media, and e-blasts;
  • Completion and ongoing management of the new GreenPAC website (WordPress);
  • Support for the Director of Fundraising with creation of fundraising materials;
  • Support in managing our contact database in NationBuilder;
  • Monitoring of earned-media opportunities in the form of op eds, letters to the editor, guest columns, and other third-party content pieces;
  • Management of other in-house writing projects as needed.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Strong writing and editing abilities;
  • Understanding of production management, in print and online, and familiarity with social media principles, practices, and flows;
  • Ability to move back and forth between strategy and day-to-day implementation;
  • Familiarity with WordPress and content management systems
  • Experience writing about Canadian politics and/or environmental issues;
  • Election or equivalent campaign experience, at least as a volunteer;
  • Assets: Experience with NationBuilder, graphic design and/or writing content in French
