Position: Senior Lead, Community Resilience
Organization: QUEST
Preferred Location: Calgary, AB

We are seeking a full-time Senior Lead, Community Resilience for a one-year contract (with the possibility of permanent, full-time employment post-contract being funding dependent) to provide operational support for QUEST’s Smart Energy market activities including the development and delivery of projects and advisory services.

You will be joining a dynamic, committed, and innovative team that is working together to transition all communities in Canada to become Smart Energy Communities.

Relocation may not be necessary as QUEST has adopted a cloud-based coordination and management approach that operates across Canada. We also encourage and support a flexible work environment.

Position Overview

Putting QUEST’s vision of Canada as a nation of Smart Energy Communities at the centre of everything we do, it is the role of the Senior Lead, Community Resilience to support the management and development of project and advisory service opportunities to accelerate the growth of Smart Energy Communities in Canada. Primary responsibilities include the development and delivery of project and advisory services, proposal development, and supporting business development.

Reporting to the Director, Projects & Advisory Services (the “Supervisor”), the Senior Lead, Community Resilience will be expected to work with and support all QUEST areas of practice to ensure the efficient delivery of projects, respond to the diverse needs of QUEST organizing bodies, and maintain a high level of professionalism towards funders, volunteers, clients, Subscribers and partners.

The ideal candidate is fully bilingual in French and English, has experience in climate risk and vulnerability assessment, climate adaptation and/or resilience planning, municipal and stakeholder engagement, and GIS - Geographic Information Systems (e.g. QGIS, ArcInfo, etc.).

Functions and Responsibilities

The Senior Lead, Community Resilience is expected to undertake the following functions and responsibilities, as well as other functions and responsibilities as requested by their Supervisor:

1. Project and Advisory Services Management and Delivery

  • Project management and delivery of single- and multi-year, cross-sectoral initiatives. Project management responsibilities and activities include:

    • developing and implementing governance documents such as work plans, project charters, terms of reference, evaluation plans, etc.
    • developing, managing and tracking assigned budgets
    • using QUEST’s Project Management Tool (Wrike), advance project and advisory service work plans, tracking progress towards project target milestones and deliverables, and ensure all internal and external reporting requirements are met in a timely manner
    • organizing and supporting assigned project teams, committees, and other bodies
    • maintaining communication channels (webpage, LinkedIn, Twitter, distribution lists, etc.) internally and externally, drafting agendas, sending meeting notices, recruiting participants, taking minutes and managing records.
  • Carry out assigned tasks including research, business cases, reports, presentations, workshop and/or service delivery, writing, review and editing of associated documents, and other activities as required.

2. Business Development and Implementation

  • Support the identification, development, and implementation of projects, applied research, and advisory services, and associated funding opportunities.
  • Support management with business development, including developing and leading business opportunities, preparing proposals, and marketing services.
  • Maintain effective communication and engagement of Subscribers, clients, and other participants to support the operation of QUEST project and advisory service activities (relevant newsletters, policy briefings, etc.).
  • Support management with strategic input into QUEST’s evolution to more effectively accelerate the implementation of Smart Energy Communities in Canada and position QUEST for success.

3. Relationship Management

  • Serve as an ambassador for QUEST, building appropriate relationships for the positive benefit of the organization, attend conferences and events, and participate in external committees/bodies as directed.
  • Responsible for ensuring that assigned project and advisory services staff, volunteers, students, consultants, senior associates and agencies assigned to you are well supervised. This includes the effective organization and assignment of work, and administration of agreements, contracts, memorandums of understanding, terms of reference and personnel policies.
  • Keep updated and use QUEST’s customer relationship management system (Solve) for all relationship management and coordination.
  • Curate and share contacts, reports, policies, and publications relevant to project and subscriber markets with relevant internal and external stakeholders.

  • Project Management (Experience managing complex multi-year, multi-sectoral initiatives with budgets >$1,000,000 considered an asset)

Compensation

This is a full-time, one-year contract position. The salary range is $70,000 – $75,000. Compensation is commensurate with experience and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
