Position: Finance and development manager
Organization: Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society – Manitoba Chapter
Location: Winnipeg, Manitoba

The Finance and Development Manager is responsible for ensuring the smooth running of daily operations, including coordinating staff, while stewarding the chapter’s future success in resource development.

CPAWS Manitoba has been instrumental in doubling protected areas in our province through the establishment of 22 new parks and protected areas over the past decade. At nearly 40,000 square kilometers, that’s an area 1.6 times the size of Lake Winnipeg. With your help, we hope to protect half of Manitoba’s wild spaces.

This is a full-time position with a salary in the $55,000 to $60,000 range.


  • Manage chapter finances: responsible for bookkeeping, strategic budgetary planning, analysis and reporting.
  • Resource development: identify and pursue opportunities ranging from individual donors to grants and corporate sponsorships.
  • Grants and sponsors management: track deadlines and support the development of funding applications and reports.
  • Donor relations: Support communications with existing donors and build donor base.
  • Human Resources: Coordinate staff and manage volunteers, track vacation and sick days, act as office benefits representative, ensure compliance with provincial workplace regulations, support hiring and onboarding of new staff.
  • Office management: oversee volunteers working in the office on administrative tasks, work with EcoCentre partners, maintain and acquire supplies, answer phones and general information requests, plan meetings.
  • Assist staff and other duties as requested by the Executive Director.


  • At least five years of experience in a management role at a non-profit.
  • Proven resource development skills.
  • Staff and volunteer coordination experience
  • Advanced bookkeeping skills and a whiz at QuickBooks.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong, collaborative relationships.
  • Excellent planning, organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision, organize work independently, fulfill assigned tasks, and meet crucial deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal English communications skills.
  • The ability to work flexible hours and travel within Canada.
  • The ability to work remotely if required.
  • Clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check.
