Positions: Farm Camp Counsellors

Our Summer Farm Camp Staff join 20,000+ volunteers to welcome campers to help seed, sew, harvest, maintain the farm, package & deliver all goods with pride and commitment to Compassionate Agriculture. By producing and donating locally grown food, we are ensuring that fresh, nutritious meals are available to Albertans. The Summer Farm Camp facilities include an extensive mixed vegetable farm, a pollination station with 15 hives, extensive green housing, an earthship solar greenhouse, a hydroponic system inside a retrofitted sea container, an elaborate irrigation and water capture system and numerous other related projects, involving mulching, composting, seeding, early germination, harvesting, repurposing, upcycling and gleaning all in a supervised, outdoor, device free environment.

Role: Summer Camp Counsellor – Full time (M-F) positions from June 25 to August 31, in Calgary, Alberta (June 25 – June 29 is training week)


Job Summary:

Summer Camp Instructors will be responsible for providing supervision and mentorship for all campers as well as planning, organizing and implementing programs for the summer camp. The Summer Camp Counsellors will work as a team to effectively execute planned programs including, set up, take down and maintenance of all camp materials and facilities. Strong communication skills for interacting with children, parents and staff as well as providing weekly, monthly and a season end report will be a necessity.

Reports: Directly to the Camp Coordinator


  • Provide active supervision for all campers

  • Plan, organize, implement, and evaluate programs specifically designed to benefit the Summer Day Camp Participants

  • Work as a part of a team to effectively deliver all planned program aspects

  • Set up, take down and daily maintenance of all camp materials and facilities

  • Provide weekly reports and suggestions along with monthly and season end reports

  • Communicate effectively with all staff, parents and participants


  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada and maintain a clean criminal record as they’ll be working with children

  • Experience coaching or instructing children in a recreational capacity is considered an asset

  • Willingness to thrive in a leadership position with an energetic and positive spirit

  • Ability to work independently and unsupervised as well as with a team

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

  • Must enjoy working in a fast paced, challenging and changing work environment

  • Familiarity with farm practices and ability to lead farming exercises are an asset (training will be provided)

  • Emergency First Aid certification would be considered an asset
